October Blogging Challenge! Day 19: Books I’m Reading

One of the things still on my pandemic to-do list is still to READ MORE! I’m a person who is ALWAYS doing 20 things at a time, so doing something simple like sitting down to relax and read is a bit tough for me because it’s so focused on ONLY one thing! But once I do get in the reading zone, I LOVE being able to drift off to dreamy worlds or be inspired by creative ideas!

I have a number of books on the go right now. Lately I’ve been unwinding with crafty books and old friends… let’s take a look!

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon by Naoko Takeuchi ~ I grew up on the Sailor Moon 90s anime (and absolutely inhaled the fanfiction!), and surprisingly never picked up the Manga until very recently (despite knowing most of the plot variations and gawking over the pretty art!) I was shocked at how much I fell in love with it myself and am loving escaping into a positive girl power monster fighting world!

Love at First Stitch by Tilly and the Buttons ~ I’m in the process of learning machine sewing with an ultimate goal of sewing my own dresses (a lot of work to go haha!) but this book came highly recommended. I love Tilly’s blog and the book is just as beautifully written and filled with amazing dress-making patterns and tips for the beginner like me to pro seamstresses!

More Felt Friends from Japan by Naomi Tabatha ~ This book is glossy and stuffed with patterns for ultra colourful kawaii felties and other projects that look like they pop out of my dreams! This is a sequel (hence the more of course!) to “Felt Friends from Japan” which I am very eager to pick up!

Knitting Mochimochi by Anna Hrachovec ~ These are the cutest itty-bitty knit(tys!) I came across the Mochimochiland website and it was another GET OUT OF MY BRAIN moment! They’re amazing projects which are all knit in the round, which I don’t have a ton of experience with, but practice makes perfect and I’m so excited to accomplish all of these.

It’s endless craft books over here! I’ll never have a proper Instagram worthy house because there is always an EXPLOSION of unfinished projects… what did I say? I start projects and then finish them 6 months down the line!

Sunday Snaps for the end of summer!

Tomorrow is officially the last day of summer! I’m very excited for all the changes autumn will bring! It certainly looks like autumn here already. Just in the past day the trees have all started going from green to orange and leaves are falling! Yay for crunchy leaf piles!! I feel like autumn is really ENERGIZING me and I managed to accomplish a lot this week.

I’ve been trying to get outside as much as I can and saying hi to the friendly neighbourhood animal pals. These guys were having a blast with the leaves:

Sugar is definitely entertained watching the leaves fall from the window as well:

I’ve also been in a cleaning mood, and reorganized the closet today. Time to pull out the toasty warm cardigans again!

Did a ton of creating as well ~ I’m so glad to be back at it! Spent a lot of time knitting and getting caught up on the 2020 Mood Blanket:

Sugar and binged a bunch of Studio Ghibli Films! Didn’t realize that they are on Netflix now so it was a huge treat.

Which inspired me to make a Totoro feltie! Here he is in progress (while watching Arrietty sew in The Secret World of Arrietty):

Bought a Hello Kitty Perler Bead kit so also been tinkering with that a bit too ( you can get your own here!):

My parents were in town this week as well, so I had the privilege of babysitting my sweet pup Heidi, who lives with my parents at their cottage. I’ve missed the heck out of her this year so it was nice catching up!

The rainbow blanket has been great for some of the chilly nights we’ve been having lately ~ and I love it! Bye summer, see ya next year!

Today is your lucky day! ♧ St. Patrick’s Day ideas!

It’s St. Patrick’s Day! Rainbows, chocolate coins, and good luck galore! I’m not Irish, but it’s just a fun day to celebrate SOMETHING even it’s just because you can!

This years’ celebrations fall on a weekend so there’s lots of time to throw together a super fun party (I’m celebrating with my cat so there’s no excuse!)

I completely forgot to pick up some Lucky Charms ~ so I made my own (sort of – they’re probably not AS tasty!):

They’re after me Lucky Charms!

Everything – the bowl, spoon, and marshmallow charms (no cereal bits here either ;)) – is completely made of felt with stuffing on the inside. It’s nice and squishy so I may never get it back from Sugar! Yes that’s also a leprechaun hat you’re spotting!

I also made a tasty shamrock shaped pizza:

Obviously pizza is not very Irish, but jalapenos are playing along with the green theme! You could also try green peppers, avocado, or even rainbow vegetables to try to find the pot of gold at the end!

This awesome and very easy recipe comes from good ol’ Good Housekeeping – which you can find here!

How else to become absolutely giddy as a leprechaun?!

♧ Add a dash of green dye to your morning cup of milk or evening bevvie!
♧ Or maybe a dash of Bailey’s Irish Creme in your coffee or hot chocolate would pick you up 🙂
♧ Add some rainbow to your eyeshadow or nails as rainbows scream St. Patty’s as well!

And remember to wear that green so you don’t get pinched 😉

Feltie Friday: Animal Crossing plush!

For the past couple days I’ve been busy working on some mini-plush based on my favourite video game series of all time: Animal Crossing!

What’s not to love about a world where you can become best friends with sassy purple cats and t-shirt wearing alligators, send refrigerators through the mail, and pay off the mortgage on your own home whenever you darn well want to (or not)?!

I created three of my favourite villagers: Bunnie (my all-time favourite since 2002!), Cookie, and darling Rosie (who left my village a few months ago and I’M STILL CRUSHED) and some of the other things that you’ll encounter around town. Even that damn dreaded pitfall.

It’s-a-me again! (and I have Mario plush to share!)

Oh hiya again blogiverse – I’m back and FULL of happiness, rainbows, and ideas to share once again!

I’ve spent a lot of time in the past week stitching together all sorts of little felt friends. Here’s my latest crew in celebration of March 10th… other wise known as Mario day (took me a bit to figure this out, but Mar 10… MAR10! Mamma mia!)

I, like so many people, have such fond memories of spending weeks on end getting that little plumber to run through insane courses filled with adorably evil Boos, lava pits, never ending staircases, and songs that will NEVER leave your brain.

Here are Mario, Luigi, and some friends to celebrate this day:
