I try my best to keep my blog and my life as upbeat and sunshiney as possible even when it’s really tough! That said, this week has been a CHALLENGING one and put my life view to the test!
We’re all at month SEVEN of the pandemic and I think it is really taking a toll on all of us lately. For me, I miss my family so much (even though they pop every couple of weeks when they pop in for groceries), work is difficult and people seem to be at each other’s throats, the news of the world is hard to watch, and I just miss having that freedom to do little things on a whim. I’ve broken down a couple of times this week ~ but then come back to reality…
I AM very fortunate (and I know others sadly aren’t in the same place). This IS temporary. We WILL be okay in the end!!
But painful weeks like this have made me truly think about all the things I am truly THANKFUL for and what brings me back to my happy place! I find it important to list out the things that brighten up my day and it doesn’t take long before it is LONG!
My cat ~ she always knows when I need an extra cuddle
Rainbows ~ they always seem to jump out at the most necessary time!
Internet friends!! <3 No matter what, they ALWAYS brighten up my day.
Creating! Shutting out the real world and being transported into a magical world of my own creative mind and seeing what comes out in yarn, felt, drawn form!
My happy little house
Positivity and happy moments! Lots of them to come 🙂
Oh 2020! You have been a wild ride so far!! I’ve been working from home since March and have really only left my house a couple of times, so there has been a LOT of time for learning and reflection. There have certainly been tough moments, but many bright happy times as well! A big goal has been to try and make every single day a special day and enjoy every moment as it comes.
Talk to family as much as possible!
Enjoy the sweets you are craving. YES, you do deserve it!
Take a few minutes each day to watch the clouds go by
Cover EVERYTHING in rainbows!
Movie marathons turn a dark day into a fantastical journey somewhere else
Turn off your phone and snuggle up with a big blanket and toasty warm hot chocolate!
Ice cream IS an acceptable dinner choice (occasionally :))
Make a mess! Cover the house in paint and yarn and glitter. Clean it up some other day 😀
Give your pets an extra kiss!
Write down a list of things that make you feel bubbly and happy (and look at it when you’re not)!
There are so many reasons to be appreciative this year! It’s been tough, but we’ll pull through and be brighter for it!
Holy moly October already?! September was a VERY busy month but fortunately also meant it went by crazy fast – phew! It’s time to unwind with the very first day of the October Blogging Challenge, and the first topic is Thankful Thursday! I’m glad we get to start the month on a good happy note because I sure need it!
I am thankful for a lot of things as I’m realizing more and more this wild year, but here are FIVE for today:
Always my favourite thing! My lovely parents surprised me this weekend by coming over to paint my bedroom and brought over sushi (my absolute favourite food!) which I haven’t had forever. They are amazing and I don’t know what I’d do without them.
Crispy Autumn Mornings
Something cool autumn days really me with warmth and happiness! I’m looking forward to planning and celebrating holidays (whatever that means this year!)
Studio Ghibli Movies
I’ve been binge watching Ghibli films lately and they’re really helping me escape from the real world for a little bit. They’re just absolute positivity and prettiness in movie form!
I LOVE making stuff and having a million projects on the go at once! My house is an EXPLOSION of colour and yarn and beads at the moment and it’s so much fun.
I bought a couple of new knitting patterns off of Etsy that I’m so excited to get to work on!
I LOVE my friends (in real life and internet friends)! Even if we don’t talk frequently or just exchange the occasional likes, I really adore you and don’t think I’d be in as good of a place as I am without you. <3
I spent a couple of hours outside every day this summer to get away from the craziness of inside life. I loved running or walking to nowhere in particular and watching the sunrises, animals, or just finding places I never knew existed and just really learning to appreciate every single second of it!
Winter here in Winnipeg, Canada is LONG. Like 6-7 months long (and it’s not uncommon to get snow in early MAY!) Most of which is below -20 celsius with many days where you can tolerate spending the time to run to the car COLD.
So as soon as you can get, out you do! I remember this day (May 16th) was one of the first days when Spring was really starting to come out and I actually bawled my eyes out as I went down this path! It was amazing.
I love heading down by the river to watch the sunrise and the occasional duck!
Sometimes I’d just sit on a bench or in the grass and watch the little birds and bugs go by. I felt my body being charged up once again.
Or stare at the sky and realize how small we really are!
I loved hearing the tweety birds in the early morning, or the grasshoppers in the evening. There is SO much more out there than our silly human made stresses!
Nature is incredible. I’m going to appreciate every second. Let’s get out there!!
What a busy week over here! Monday was off for Labour Day, and I mostly spent the day organizing my house and getting back into blogging again!! I’m so excited to share another edition of Sunday Snaps ~ my pictures for the week! It’s been a while!
I kind of felt like I cleaned off a layer of dust that’s been hanging on my mood all summer and REALLY started feeling like myself again this week! I’ve been positively jumping with joy.
Went on some nice long nature walks to unwind! The leaves are just starting to change colours ~ and I can’t wait! I absolutely love this time of year.
Did some painting and rearranging in the living room! And it’s finally cool enough to turn on the electric fireplace so it’s very cozy in here!
Yesterday was National Video Game Day (which I blogged about here!) and to celebrate I’ve been catching up with some favourites – Pokemon and Animal Crossing!
I’ve also been picking up the knitting needles again after a bit of a break. My poor Mood Blanket needs a bit of work but it was nice to pull it out again after I thought it was doomed to be unfinished forever!
