Strawberry Cupcake Hats Forever!

It is minus 14 celsius with windchill right now, and snow is in the forecast for this afternoon! Winter is on definitely on its way~ but I’m not sour about it. In fact… I’m excited because I can top my outfits office with cute warm accessories!! To celebrate (I might be the only one!), I knitted myself a cute new toque. Cupcake themed, because what else could make you smile in the middle of a blizzard!?

This was a super quick knit that I worked on during my downtime at work yesterday. I opted for Super Bulky yarn which makes it really thick and toasty for Canadian winters. The toque is in three parts, which I did freestyle, or without a pattern: the liner, the frosting, and the strawberry, and then sewn up at the end.

The yellow cupcake liner is ribbed in Lion Brands’ Hometown Glory (Super Bulky) in Pittsburgh Yellow. I ended up knitting it short side down – so it ended up looking like a long skinny scarf just so I could get the exact length for my head.

The pink is Lion Brands’ Neon Pink. I think the colours are so delicious together! It’s then topped off with a bright red strawberry.

It may be chilly outside, but that shouldn’t stop you from dressing super sweet!

My Ravelry is here if you’re looking for any knitting buddies. 🙂

October Blogging Challenge! Day 12: Weekend Highlights

Happy Monday!! I might be part of the very small minority of people who actually enjoys a nice fresh new week to reset and get excited about life again! Even better is when a Monday happens to be a day off like today! Today is Thanksgiving Monday over here in Canada, and it’s a day off of work or school for most people. So three day weekend means an extra fun challenge post for today which is to talk about weekend highlights!!

Thanksgiving is definitely different this year because of COVID-19. Usually my family would celebrate over at my Oma’s place with oodles of stuffing and pie. This year was obviously quieter.

Saturday

It was so weird getting a chance to sleep in and know that I had THREE FULL DAYS of whatever the heck I wanted. I spent Saturday mostly relaxing, cleaning up, and going for a long run/walk through the neighbourhood.

I did enjoy the 30 seconds of organization where everything was in its place!

Sunday

I had been meaning this past week to buy the ingredients to try my hand at baking a pumpkin pie… But I ended up completely forgetting! I still whipped up a pie… although he’s much cuter, and has FAR less calories ;).

Please meet Gourdon (you know, gourd-!):

I knitted him up in about an hour, using Lion Brand Super Bulky yarn. Sugar has been enjoying attacking and cuddling up with him as well!

Monday

Sugar and I had a lazy food coma kind of day! What’s thanksgiving without an overstuffed tummy?! Sugar had Turkey Friskies of course, and I had a huge rice and veggie stir fry – which I forgot to take a pic of because I was so excited to eat it (sigh!)

Then we played some video games (Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure) and cleaned up again.

Then I reminisced about how it was physically possible for three days to pass by in two minutes, because it was an amazing weekend.
