What’s been blooming with me in May!

Hard to believe a whole month has passed in just a BLINK! Here’s one of my monthly catchup posts to see what I was up to, and some of my favourites for the month!

I’ve been spending a lot of time catching up on my 2020 mood blanket! As a recap, it WAS to be knit a square a day to match my mood for last year. Life got a bit loopy naturally, and I dropped the project for a bit. It’s over 3/4 done now, and I should be able to ACTUALLY finish it in a few weeks!!

I have SO many other projects I really want to get to (need to get back on track with the craft everyday thing!), but I’m focused on getting my rainbow on and done first.

Celebrated Mother’s day virtually again! My parents live out of province anyways, but we’re under really tight lockdown restrictions in Manitoba at the moment so no in person hugs. YET!

Came across this picture of me and mom many, many years ago. 🙂 Her hair is a perm here which is funny because it’s my exact real hair. Who would’ve known?!

Made delicious cinnamon rolls for World Baking Day on May 16th! I used the Easy Cinnamon Rolls recipe from Sally’s Baking Addiction, but swapped out the dairy and eggs for vegan equivalents and dumped in a pile of sprinkles. They were absolutely FABULOUS!!

The weather is really heating up outside and the cherry blossom and deer friends have come to play! Trying to sneak out every chance I get and capture moments like THESE:

Sugar the kitty had a big scare in the middle of the month and nearly ate string from box packaging. I was able to pull it out of her mouth (in consultation with a vet) and she’s 100% okay and happy as can be. But they were some of the most terrifying days of my life. Will be doing a post to share the scary “tail”!

Hug and love your sweet pets constantly! <3

And lastly, the biggest moment of the month – well year! – I got VACCINATED! I am looking forward to getting my second shot in the next few weeks, and then plenty of hugs and happiness to come!

If you haven’t yet, please get your shot to help others. It takes only a couple of minutes and then we’ll soon be back to doing what we love with the people we love.

By the way, these super kawaii masks are from Blippo Kawaii Shop! :3

Now for some favourite things this month:

What I’ve been watching: I’ve been on a Star Trek kick! Every couple of years I started from THE BEGINNING with The Original Series (the one with good ol’ Captain Kirk for all of the non-Trekkies) and attempting to do a full walkthrough of the series while I’m still working from home. I am, in fact, a gigantic geek. 🙂

Eating: Two Rivers Flavoured Coffee Pods for Keurig from Amazon & homemade Cinnamon Buns

Video Games: New Pokemon Snap for Switch! The original Pokemon Snap for N64 was one of my favourites as a kid, and this is a modernized take. The graphic are absolutely stunning, and has many hours of gameplay. It’s a good game to pick up for just a couple of minutes a day to focus and relax. If you enjoy Pokemon games and collecting, it’s incredibly fun.

That’s all for now! I’m off to enjoy the great outdoors. xox

My Adventures in April!

HAPPY SPRINGTIME! This is my favourite time of year as everything is fresh and pretty, and all of the sweet little animals come out to play.

I am still working from home and cooped up most of the day, so there is nothing I look more forward to than escaping to outside and exploring my neighbourhood.

I’m very fortunate to live almost next to the river, and to a couple of small lakes and love to watch the sunrises next to them!

The snow finally disappeared…and then reappeared!

Then my sweet little deer friends came out to play.

Back at home, I started painting the interior of the Dollhouse (it’s been over two years since I finished the outside~ better late than never I guess!) The Tuxedo Cat family decorated some cakes to celebrate their new residence.

And celebrated 3 years with Sugar!

For Easter, I made a tasty bunny parfait with vegan banana bread!

Bunny Day returned to Animal Crossing so Sugar and I snuggled up to try and snag as many eggs as we could.

It was a fantastic month full of new springy adventures. Can’t wait for May!!

A Lovely Little Valentine’s Catchup!

Happy Valentine’s Day lovely friends! <3

Outside there is a polar vortex and it’s been nearly MINUS FIFTY with windchill for the past couple of weeks. I am completely stuck inside and really been missing being able to go for my outside adventures in the forests to unwind a little bit.

But at least it’s toasty warm and I’ve been keeping busy doing all sorts of things that I love! Here’s what I’ve been up to lately:

♡ Decorating the house for Valentine’s Day (it doesn’t really take much to love it up ;))

♡ Learning German on Duolingo!

♡ Celebrating Sugar’s THIRD birthday (which was on the 11th~ she’s truly a little Love Baby)! She got piles of treats and a new cat hammock that she’s never going to use!

♡ Baking a bunch of bread!

♡ Collecting all of the Valentiney boxes of chocolate on Animal Crossing!

Lots of love on this lovely day! <3 Erika and Sugar

April Adventures Bring May Catch Up Posts!

Hello friends!! As usual, I’m running LATE with my posts! Despite being inside pretty much the whole time, April just whizzed by!

I really want to seem like I’m nothing but rainbows and sugary sunshine, but thought I’d do some ~real talk~ about life and all that first. I’ve been working from home for two full months now, which has been mostly great. I save at least an hour each way on the commute, which has also helped tremendously with my anxiety. But I’ve also been pulling far longer hours at the virtual office which has been some *STRESSFUL* long days. At some points I feel like I’m the edge of burning out from my job. But I’m doing my best to find cheer in little things like baking, video games, and kitty snuggles and that really helps!

Now the days are longer and brighter and I’m learning to enjoy every moment at home because life will turn back to normal. Here’s some of how I passed the time in April!

The weather has been miserable, but I still found some rainbows (under a couple of feet of snow because I put out my doormat too early!! >.<)

I’m a bit of a bagel addict! But I haven’t been able to run to the bakery, so I had to learn to make my own instead. So introducing my homemade rings of happiness. The recipe is from Sally’s Baking Addiction!

I also made this delicious no bake cheesecake a few weeks ago! Recipe is from Tastemade 🙂

Sugar celebrated here second gotcha day on the 18th! Look how itty bitty she was two years ago!

I decided to repaint one of the walls in my living room, because I realized it was a bit too dark for space and needed a change! Now it’s a bright and airy lighter pink! There are more options for decorating now… think I might go a bit more shabby chic… but need to find new couches that match better!

And also did some spring cleaning on my spare room! Which has now turned into a craft and toy room!

I’m still knitting my mood blanket, but it’s really hard to find yarn and other supplies (seems like everyone else has the same crafty desires)! Amazon is out of most of my colours currently, so I’ll have a lot of catch up to do later on. But I’m still enjoying it! I’m also hoping to work on some sewing projects and maybe some perler beads soon now that I have the space!

And I’ve been spending a lot of time just unwinding playing video games!

Besides Animal Crossing which takes up most of my free time, I’ve been re-exploring the world of Final Fantasy 8 Remastered (usually with a kitty right in my face :D)!

So I’m certainly not bored and looking forward to even better days ahead! 🙂

Hope you and your loved ones are well and enjoying adventures of your own!

Until next time, Erika! xoxo

May Catch-up!

Apologies for the VERY delayed post – ack it’s the middle of… JUNE?! Here’s what I was up to in May!

  • I’ve been running like a mad woman – literally! I had a half marathon in early May and finished in a wicked personal best time (1:49)! Running has been most of my life actually! It’s been run, eat, sleep, repeat all in preparation for my full marathon *gasp* tomorrow?!?!?!
Sugar modelling my medal (and sweaty gear ;)) from my half!
  • It’s actually spring out now (we even had a few days well above THIRTY celsius!) so I’ve been spending a lot of time outside staring at the lovely cherry blossoms!
  • Started working on construction on my first dollhouse, which I’ve been spending weeks sanding, construction, priming, painting… making an entire mess of my room and have been loving it! I really missed being creative and coating everything in PINK!
  • I also got inspired to finally get back to working on decorating my actual house!
  • After a few years, I finally got CURTAINS! My big dollhouse finally looks like a real dollhouse now! Which that cat has not destroyed yet (even I’m SHOCKED)!
  • Game of Thrones is actually DONE! Ahh! It’s been so long since I’ve been invested in a show like that (like so many people!) No spoilers here, but I really liked how it ended.
  • I started watching The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt to fill in the gap! Definitely NOT the same genre, but it was time for something hilarious.
  • After years and years of hmming and hawing, I bought my very first Takara Neo Blythe doll (I’m planning a proper post soon… but I’m just beaming!)
  • And saw lots and lots of rainbows!
This was at 6 am on what seemed like a super glum day! The universe always knows what you need 🙂

Hope to be a bit more active here on the blogosphere once running is done! I feel the creative bug biting again and need to put all that spare time to use! 😀
