HAPPY LAST DAY OF 2019! And last day of the DECADE to boot!
Wow has so much changed for me in the past year ~ in great ways! I started the year so excited to create a bright happy life for myself, and am ending it even more positive about everything! The middle was stuffed with great stuff too. Here’s some of what I accomplished!
And so much more! Hard to believe it has been 365 days! I really just want 2020 to be very similar – just happy, colourful, and creative! I think we can do it!
LET’S GO!!! Lots of love and best of luck to you all in 2020!! xoxo
I DID IT! Ran 26.2 miles (42 kilometers) before most people even had breakfast yesterday – and loved it!
I still kind of feel like running is my ~secret~identity, totally separate from my usual pretty pink persona! Okay, this outfit might just give me away! 😉
Running has become a big part of my life and one of my favourite hobbies. As I mentioned in this post, I only started properly training last year after thinking that’d I never ever do such a silly thing. I’m a frilly dress wearing, no sweat, I actually like to KEEP my toenails kinda gal!! Or so I thought!
With hundreds of miles run and two half marathons under my belt, I was ready for the next big challenge: the FULL marathon. So for the past four months I’ve been waking up early no matter the weather (my cat hasn’t been complaining that she gets breakfast super early!), spent a record amount of time in spandex, and bruised every single one of my toenails getting ready for the big day!
All for this one day. I still couldn’t believe THE race day was really here when I lined up for the run and nerves almost got me! However, the loud cheering, other happy people, and the knowledge of medals and bagels at the end made me get it together!
The race itself was great. I was very well trained – but you’re still never quite sure what to expect until you’re OUT THERE on the course with only your own brain. I watched the miles pass by way faster than I thought and suddenly Pink Lightning (which I feel I was appropriately nicknamed by a spectator!) was coming through the stadium!
Seeing that finish line – and accomplishing what seemed to be an unrealistic life goal – was a moment that will stick with me forever. To my shock I finished in 3:52:14! I almost cried when the medal was put around my neck!
I’m beyond ecstatic right now! I’m practically still jumping up and down (except not actually my legs are like NO WAY!) I can’t wait to get back in the groove of running again, but for right now I’m enjoying just getting to lay around and getting to eat all sorts of delicious sweets!
Apologies for the VERY delayed post – ack it’s the middle of… JUNE?! Here’s what I was up to in May!
I’ve been running like a mad woman – literally! I had a half marathon in early May and finished in a wicked personal best time (1:49)! Running has been most of my life actually! It’s been run, eat, sleep, repeat all in preparation for my full marathon *gasp* tomorrow?!?!?!
It’s actually spring out now (we even had a few days well above THIRTY celsius!) so I’ve been spending a lot of time outside staring at the lovely cherry blossoms!
Started working on construction on my first dollhouse, which I’ve been spending weeks sanding, construction, priming, painting… making an entire mess of my room and have been loving it! I really missed being creative and coating everything in PINK!
I also got inspired to finally get back to working on decorating my actual house!
After a few years, I finally got CURTAINS! My big dollhouse finally looks like a real dollhouse now! Which that cat has not destroyed yet (even I’m SHOCKED)!
Game of Thrones is actually DONE! Ahh! It’s been so long since I’ve been invested in a show like that (like so many people!) No spoilers here, but I really liked how it ended.
I started watching The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt to fill in the gap! Definitely NOT the same genre, but it was time for something hilarious.
After years and years of hmming and hawing, I bought my very first Takara Neo Blythe doll (I’m planning a proper post soon… but I’m just beaming!)
And saw lots and lots of rainbows!
Hope to be a bit more active here on the blogosphere once running is done! I feel the creative bug biting again and need to put all that spare time to use! 😀
Can you believe April has already come and gone?! This month whizzed by even quicker than March and I can’t believe I’ve barely posted a thing. Wasn’t my intention to let this month run away from me, but I was on so many adventures I hardly had a second to sit down. Suppose I should do a nice catch-up and some monthly snaps here!
Hoppy Easter to all those who celebrated! If not, hope you at least got lots of cheap chocolate~ I sure did!
Spring means out with the dark everything, and in with the pastels and rainbows. They are EVERYWHERE and I LOVE it!
Enjoyed a lovely day off of work!
Spent lots of time with family!
Ate a ton of good food 🙂
My lovely cousin got engaged
And two of my high school friends found out they are having BABIES!
I celebrated one full year with my cat! Loving every second of cat mom-hood!
To celebrate, I bought a cat camera. Now I spend half my day at work watching her (shh!) – it was this one here from Amazon! I definitely do recommend it.
It was Administrative Professionals Day at work so my bosses got my a very nice vase of fancy flowers and took me out for lunch!
Got a pretty significant raise at work as well!
So splurged on a Nintendo Switch, which has been a blast!
Also planning to do some more renovating on my little home! Needs some more PINK! 😉
Baked about 12 dozen cookies this month. Probably ate about that many too 😀
Have been running non-stop!
Less than a week until my half marathon now (not super pumped that it’s going to be basically winter running though :O)!
Have run further away than ever before which makes for excellent adventures.
Ventured by an old mill a couple of kilometers away and it was scenic as heck.
Made some new running friends and reconnected with an old high school friend who is also into running!
Although the continued winter has some benefit. I’ve been enjoying being cooped up a little bit and spent ALL of last weekend playing The Sims. Nothing better than carefree days spent mindlessly laughing at the antics of little screen people!
New season of Game of Thrones! *gasps darkly and full of terror*
Been binge watching the Disney classics as well!
I’m finding Disney so visually inspiring. Been doing some ~casual cosplay~ of the Princesses which is mega fun
Found a whole new world (see what I did there…) of things to collect as well!
It is apparently warming up! There was one whole day that went all the way up to 19 degrees celsius!
Snow is GONE and grass is actually green
Got the patio setup on my balcony
Actually had a chance to sit on the patio one day so far so that was nice
Almost time to break out the summery dresses!
Quite excited for all of the fun warm cheery adventures to come!
You would never be able to tell one of my favourite hobbies from looking at me: I love to run!
A couple of years ago I couldn’t even watch people on tv running without getting out of breath! Sweating, blisters, sore muscles, everybody dressing fluorescent head-to-toe?!?! Then one day I had the sporadic urge to jump into a pair of runners and run down the street. Suddenly then there I was, outdoors feeling the wind in my hair for hours at a time and… I adored it (that first run, wow it was tough though! Phew!)
Suffice to say I started long distance running and I don’t think anyone would guess it looking at me in my poofy dresses and bows! But a pair of runners, those weird bright outfits that look like they never got over the 80s, and running in -40 celsius at 6 am is my secret happy little world.
Don’t get me wrong, this didn’t happen overnight. Before I started running, I spent years walking outside for hours every single day and taking the stairs at work. There’s no better way to clear a fuzzy brain than a bit of leg stretching!
Last year I finally fully trained and ran my first half marathon (13 miles in 2:01), and will soon do it all again. And I just registered for my eek… first full marathon (26 miles!), which will be in June.
Running is a weird thing to love in a way because there is definitely a lot of pain (and potential for injury, lost toenails, and other unpleasant things), a lot of time spent completely alone blocking out the world, and it’s rather expensive (you need good quality equipment and entry fees). However, the reward is immense: good physical and mental health, hanging out in nature, and meeting such supportive people! No matter what your skill level, other runners (even the elite ones!) will be happy to throw you a wave!
So in two weeks, I’ll be paying a good amount of money for the honour of running down the road as quickly as I can for a medal and a delicious plate of luke-warm pancakes~ and will love every single minute of it!
