Sunday Snaps ~ A Mid-Summers Day Dream!

Happy Sunday!!! Another week full of warm cozy summer nights, and dreamy rainbow-filled days… Here are some of the things I was up to.

It’s been over 30 degrees celsius for weeks straight which has made for some lovely days.

However, there are currently over 800 wildfires burning across Canada. It’s so incredibly dry and hot ~ and just getting hotter. The fires have brought an eerie thick layer of smoke over Canada. This was a bright yellow sky one early morning, which is beautiful but just a reminder of how devastating the fire and climate damage is.

On a positive note, guess whoooo I saw!! I didn’t actually realize that there were owls in my area ~ but I spotted this guy playing around one early morning on my run!

And he brought friends! Not sure what I expected from a bunch of owls, but they were LOUD and very playful. Look at that adorable little round face. 8>

Then this little ball of sunshine ~ my parents’ lovely pup Heidi ~ turned EIGHT on July 11th! I got to babysit her a few times when my parents were in town for appointments.

I’ve been spending a lot of time inside to escape the heat and smoke and getting up to some projects… Like restoring my My Little Pony Dream Castle (from the 80s). Sugar has made herself queen.

And we’ve been having tea parties~! Sugar for some reason likes sitting with these tiny toy cups and cakes.

Gotta say this summer has been a hoot so far 😉 Even better that I’m fully vaccinated now so starting to think of getting out and doing some stuff around the city!

Until next time! <3 Erika & Sugar

Sunday Snaps: Fully Vaccinated Edition!

From brand new bikes and months, to vaccines and ice cream, this has been a whirlwind of a week!!

Kawaii face mask, bowl of ice cream, and a I'm COVID-19 Vaccinated sticker!

I found myself taking lots of pictures and thought it would be a good time to bring back Sunday Snaps on this blog as it’s just a fun way of capturing little moments in my life that Instagram doesn’t always cover. When I started this blog it was with the full intent of sharing fun “week in the life” posts frequently, and I haven’t been overly consistent I’ll admit ~ but it’s time to bring some happy fun times back!

Can you believe it’s JULY? Half of this year has zipped by!

Hello Kitty calendar - July 2021

Work was b-u-s-y BUSY!!! I’m still working from home so I didn’t really have much of a chance to get up from my desk at all as it was end of quarter in the corporate world. Genuinely felt like Aggretsuko most of the time. Perhaps I should take up heavy metal ;).

Aggretsuko by Sanrio!

Accomplished a lot so I did end up splurging on myself and bought a BIKE! This is Amelia Pedalia the Cruiser and I’m in love!

I spent ALL DAY Thursday, which was a day off here in Canada, putting her together. Hopefully some fun cruises down the street will help me calm down a bit on the stressful days.

I was able to squeeze in some very early morning exercise and met up with my good pal – Licorice von Boots the Cat! He happily accepted some scratches.

And spotted this little sweetie in the forest! Mama was watching me closely and I kept my distance of course. Little baby was curious.

Today I got my second dose of COVID vaccine (Moderna).

I haven’t really been out at all during the pandemic, so I don’t usually get to get to put together outfits as much anymore so dressing up a bit was FUN!

Had a craving for ice cream before I left, so I threw on an ice cream brooch and my absolutely adorable Loungefly Pokemon Ice Cream bag! A couple of people complimented how cheery I looked so I thought that was fun!

I got it from EBGames (Gamespot in the US)!

I didn’t have any side effects with the first dose of the vaccine, so fingers crossed for the same thing this time. Feeling great so far!

I’m looking forward to many more adventures in a couple of weeks when I can safely get out.

Until next time, Erika! xoxo

Sunday Snaps for the end of summer!

Tomorrow is officially the last day of summer! I’m very excited for all the changes autumn will bring! It certainly looks like autumn here already. Just in the past day the trees have all started going from green to orange and leaves are falling! Yay for crunchy leaf piles!! I feel like autumn is really ENERGIZING me and I managed to accomplish a lot this week.

I’ve been trying to get outside as much as I can and saying hi to the friendly neighbourhood animal pals. These guys were having a blast with the leaves:

Sugar is definitely entertained watching the leaves fall from the window as well:

I’ve also been in a cleaning mood, and reorganized the closet today. Time to pull out the toasty warm cardigans again!

Did a ton of creating as well ~ I’m so glad to be back at it! Spent a lot of time knitting and getting caught up on the 2020 Mood Blanket:

Sugar and binged a bunch of Studio Ghibli Films! Didn’t realize that they are on Netflix now so it was a huge treat.

Which inspired me to make a Totoro feltie! Here he is in progress (while watching Arrietty sew in The Secret World of Arrietty):

Bought a Hello Kitty Perler Bead kit so also been tinkering with that a bit too ( you can get your own here!):

My parents were in town this week as well, so I had the privilege of babysitting my sweet pup Heidi, who lives with my parents at their cottage. I’ve missed the heck out of her this year so it was nice catching up!

The rainbow blanket has been great for some of the chilly nights we’ve been having lately ~ and I love it! Bye summer, see ya next year!

Sunday Snaps!

What a busy week over here! Monday was off for Labour Day, and I mostly spent the day organizing my house and getting back into blogging again!! I’m so excited to share another edition of Sunday Snaps ~ my pictures for the week! It’s been a while!

I kind of felt like I cleaned off a layer of dust that’s been hanging on my mood all summer and REALLY started feeling like myself again this week! I’ve been positively jumping with joy.

Went on some nice long nature walks to unwind! The leaves are just starting to change colours ~ and I can’t wait! I absolutely love this time of year.

Did some painting and rearranging in the living room! And it’s finally cool enough to turn on the electric fireplace so it’s very cozy in here!

Yesterday was National Video Game Day (which I blogged about here!) and to celebrate I’ve been catching up with some favourites – Pokemon and Animal Crossing!

I’ve also been picking up the knitting needles again after a bit of a break. My poor Mood Blanket needs a bit of work but it was nice to pull it out again after I thought it was doomed to be unfinished forever!

Here’s to another great week ahead! 🙂

Sunday Snaps! Janu-Where Are You Going?!

We’re over half way through January now if you can believe!

The past week has been nearly -40 with windchill so I’ve been stuck inside my little house. I’ve got a ton of fun projects on the go, so I’m far from bored even with the crazy chill! Soon it’ll be sunny and I’ll be jumping amongst the flowers, so for right now I’m just trying to enjoy the relaxy inside time I have! Here’s what I’ve been up to:

Took down the tree! My living room looks so empty now. But not sad… because that just means fresh starts and space to fill!

I just got that Hello Kitty Barbie way up there! Haven’t been a huge fan of the Barbie’s from the past couple of years, but I couldn’t resist this collab! It’s really been reigniting my Barbie love so I feel there may be a few new Barbie’s in the future…!

Big Progress on the Mood Blanket! Here it is after 18 days~ I’m LOVING the colours! This is just going to be the first row when all is done, but I still need to stitch them together.

I also have at least 5 other big knitting projects on the go too! More fruit plush, a bowl of candy, Topaz the Unicorn stuffed toy, Hello Kitty purse, and more! A project for this year is finishing up my craft room so I can get all of the projects and yarn off my living room floor!

#DressUpYourPetDay was on January 14th. Sugar attempted to be a butterfly!! Lol! This was as successful as I got at snapping her in the costume before I ran a marathon trying to catch her!

I’m also still feeling the flour power~ even though I told myself that I needed to take a break for a couple of weeks so my dresses could loosen up a bit! 😉 I made these delicious hamburger buns (recipe from All Recipes) the other day which are better than store bought!

Just trying to stay magical and enjoy the month before it completely flies by!

Lots of love! Erika xoxo
