Happy Sunday!!! Another week full of warm cozy summer nights, and dreamy rainbow-filled days… Here are some of the things I was up to.
It’s been over 30 degrees celsius for weeks straight which has made for some lovely days.
However, there are currently over 800 wildfires burning across Canada. It’s so incredibly dry and hot ~ and just getting hotter. The fires have brought an eerie thick layer of smoke over Canada. This was a bright yellow sky one early morning, which is beautiful but just a reminder of how devastating the fire and climate damage is.
On a positive note, guess whoooo I saw!! I didn’t actually realize that there were owls in my area ~ but I spotted this guy playing around one early morning on my run!
And he brought friends! Not sure what I expected from a bunch of owls, but they were LOUD and very playful. Look at that adorable little round face. 8>
Then this little ball of sunshine ~ my parents’ lovely pup Heidi ~ turned EIGHT on July 11th! I got to babysit her a few times when my parents were in town for appointments.
I’ve been spending a lot of time inside to escape the heat and smoke and getting up to some projects… Like restoring my My Little Pony Dream Castle (from the 80s). Sugar has made herself queen.
And we’ve been having tea parties~! Sugar for some reason likes sitting with these tiny toy cups and cakes.
Gotta say this summer has been a hoot so far 😉 Even better that I’m fully vaccinated now so starting to think of getting out and doing some stuff around the city!
Hope you have all enjoyed a super sweet February filled with floating hearts, delicious candies, and lots of love for yourself! Here were some of my favourite things over the past 28 lovely days.
TV Shows: The Office (US) – finally gave this one a go after apparently my coworkers have been relentlessly quoting this for years and I’ve been clueless! It looks dry and muted and WAY too much like my real office so maybe that’s what’s been keeping me away! It’s a fake docu-comedy like Parks & Rec, which is one of my favourites – and it’s a surprisingly nice escape for a show about well… office life!
Music: I’ve been on an indie-pop kick again and have been getting back into some of my favourite bands from 2013-ish like CHVRCHES, Bastille, Hurts, and Florence + the Machine… One of my current on repeats:
Food: Still eating vegan and LOVING IT! I would love to start being even more conscious about what I’m eating and make sure it’s sustainable and cruelty-free. My favourite go-to meals lately are this super Saucy Ramen Noodle recipe and vegan pizza – which uses soy cheese.
Video Games: Pokemon Shield ~ it honestly took me a really long time to get used to the play style and how linear the storyline is. But after a year, I’ve fallen in LOVE with it! It has amazing graphics (I know other people would beg to differ), and plays really well on the Switch’s tv features.
Purchases: Funko has released retro Barbie Funko Pops of three of the most popular Barbie dolls from the 80s. They are way too cute for words! Can’t wait for mine to ship because they will fit right in here at my little pink house!
I thought I would share some of the adorable icons of my wonderful childhood to celebrate this lovely throwback Thursday!
This pile of pretty plastic and happiness is stuffed full of powerful memories and truly made me the person that I am today and I’m delighted to share them! What familiar characters do you spot, and which other childhood icons did you love?!
Nothing like Springy weather to really motivate you to CLEAN the cave you’ve been stuck in all winter! I spent last weekend pushing furniture and cleaning up the condo and for the first time I really feel like the vision of my place is coming true!
I moved my computer out of my bedroom and into the living room, and with all that extra room I finally got a… bed!
Say WHAT?! I’ve been sleeping on a futon for the past SIX years (it seemed like an awesome thing to do in my early twenties!) My first night in a bed was surprisingly comfier than being stuffed into the edge of a lumpy futon! I even FINALLY got the canopy I’ve had for ages up and it looks majestic in here! Anyways, without further adieu, please take a look at my oh so organized pretty in pink bedroom!
If you’ve read through any of my posts or pictures, you may have noticed that I have a rather large collection of toys! In fact, my entire house is like falling down a rabbit hole into a world of dizzyingly bright nostalgia and squeeful kawaii happiness! I’m also an adult with a job, mortgage, and child to take care of (okay she has four legs, is covered in fur, and has a MEAN tuna addiction! ^_^)
Don’t worry – I know you probably have questions! I’ve heard ALL the ‘why don’t you grow up already?!’, ‘what’s wrong with you?’, ‘is this a weird AHEM… fetish thing?’ comments. The answers: I’m a proper tax paying awesome adult, absolutely nothing is wrong about things people enjoy, and nope it’s not (if it’s your fetish and it’s legal do your thing – but it’s not for me).
People have many reasons for collecting (and they’re all great!) For me, I collect toys because I really love reliving those feelings of the happy days of my carefree whimsy-filled childhood in the 1990s, enjoy the thrill finding THAT special thing in a shop, getting to buy all the stuff I circled in toy catalogues but couldn’t have as a kid, and then have fun displaying them in my home as they’re a piece of who I am! There’s also maybe a little bit of hope that they’ll be worth a FORTUNE one day! 😀
You’re never too old for doing what you love, but you ARE really crotchety if you’re truly bothered by something that makes others happy.
Here’s some of the stuff I get to come home and enjoy everyday!
